Alicia D’Amato, director of CELAC, and Andrew Sansone, director of the Families for Literacy program, recently accompanied a group of Families for Literacy students to PATH’s Positive Train Control Center (PTCC) in Jersey City, where they toured the PTCC and learned about PATH’s operations and service to the community.
]]>The Center for English Language Acquisition and Culture (CELAC) at Saint Peter’s University recently hosted an event featuring Laura Pakhmanov, MHRM, executive director for the Center for Career Engagement and Experiential Learning (CEEL). Pakhmanov shared how being bilingual in Russian and English helped her during the beginning of her career. Along with stressing the positive aspects of being bilingual, Laura also discussed CEEL and various career options available through the Center.

]]>CELAC was one of the five finalists out of 114 candidates in the baccalaureate category for successfully advancing Hispanics in higher education. Founded in 2004, Excelencia in Education is the only national initiative that recognizes higher education programs that have been successful in improving Hispanic student achievement.
